Chuck E Cheese and wiggly straws

When we drove down from Tigard to Eugene we had a bit of trouble getting in touch with our friends here. So when I saw a road name I recognized on the freeway I got off and found a mall where we could waste some time waiting for them to return our calls. And wouldn't you know it, in the mall was a Chuck E Cheese. And we just happened to have a billion tokens in the van, left over from when Duncan had chosen Chuck E Cheese as his reward for sleeping alone in his bed for 10 days. So we went there and spent about an hour playing. And getting lots of tickets. The kids were quite happy with this as a way to spend the day :)

Two days later we wanted to be out of Brandy's way because Junie had woken up sick in the middle of the night so neither of them had slept terribly much or terribly well. So, after we'd gone to story time at the library we eventually ended up back at Chuck E Cheese. Joy. We stayed until we'd exhausted our remaining tokens, then we put all our tickets through a counting machine and got a receipt. Two hundred forty six tickets. I explained to the kids that we could save that receipt and maybe another time we'd be at a Chuck E Cheese and we'd get new tokens for them to play games and win tickets, and we could combine the tickets and try to get a bigger prize. Or we could go look at the little prizes that we could afford with our 246 tickets. They chose immediate gratification. Of course.

So we went over and looked at the prizes. After I vetoed all of the candy options, they both decided they wanted a wiggly straw. Duncan chose green and Sayer chose red. Eighty tickets later we had two wiggly straws and a receipt for the remaining 166 tickets. Yahoo! Silly kids. (Not that any of the big prizes was anything worth having either ... why don't these places have quality toys instead of crap?)
