Workbook pages and pita bread

This morning while Duncan was having fun in his gymnastics class Sayer sat in the lobby with me and did ALL of her assigned workbook pages in less than an hour. Phonics, math, analogies, and word find puzzles. Sixteen pages, total, including beginning fractions, abstract comparisons, and 'long' words in her word-seek puzzles. And when she was done she still had time to run around like a crazy girl for a bit before Duncan's class ended. :)

This afternoon, before leaving for Sayer's dance class, she and I mixed together the ingredients for pita breads. Making the breads is a suggested activity in the SotW book, in the lesson on the Phoenicians. After she mixed things together with a fork I took out the mass of dough and kneaded it for 10 minutes, then plopped it into a buttered bowl and we rushed out the door for dance class. When we got home the kids got distracted by playing in the backyard, then playing with the hose in the backyard, then taking a bath, and so it wasn't until much later that we got back to the ball of dough. It had doubled in size, and Sayer had *great* fun punching it down :) I cut it into eights, and then Sayer and Duncan shaped the pieces into balls. Those got to sit for 15 minutes, and then they rolled them out into circle shapes. We par-baked four of them, pulled them out and put pizza toppings on, then stuck them back in to finish baking. Mmmm, dinner! The other four got fully baked just as pita bread. We'll probably snack on it tomorrow as we make purple dye with blueberries - another activity from SotW.
