We went a day earlier than planned ...

to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Sayer had said she wanted to go on Friday, but when she realized on Friday that the movie was in the theater already and she'd volunteered to wait two more days before going to see it, she changed her mind. We went to the 9 AM showing today instead. The theater was about 1/3 full. Hooray for no crowds! :)

It was a decent adaptation. Michael Gambon's acting disappointed me. He just was not convincing. And given how many other things they wrote out of the movie, I was surprised they left in a hint of the relationship between Lupin and Tonks. A not well-done one at that. Ah well. That won't stop me from watching it again and again when it's available on DVD :)

Sayer liked it bunches. Duncan was 'bored' halfway through and wanted to get up and walk around. I managed to keep him quiet and still through the rest of the movie only by reminding him that he wanted to watch Spiderman when we got home, and made his good behavior at the theater the condition for being allowed to see it. By the time it's out on DVD he'll probably be interested in watching the whole thing.
