Sayer's homeschool morning

Sayer started off her morning with ETC and completed 6 pages, including the dreaded 'lots of writing' page she skipped yesterday. She has one page left before the 4 page 'test' at the end of the book. She thought maybe she wanted to finish it all today, but the last page is another of the 'lots of writing' pages, so she decided tomorrow was soon enough to be finished with book 3. :)

Then, because Chanda had introduced us to the printable pages from Mindsprinting.com yesterday, I went and registered there so we could print our own. She took the assessment tests for reading excellence (designed to test K through 3) and math. I didn't bother to call her over to confirm that she could recognize and identify all the letters of the alphabet and the sounds they made, or the list of words like 'and, the, now, like,' etc. She came over and flew through the second list of words, and in the third list she misread 'language' as 'luggage' and didn't quite get 'garage.' So they say that she's reading at a 3rd grade level. In math she's in the 1st grade level. Not bad for someone who isn't supposed to start Kindergarten until the fall, huh?

I think later today we'll read another book or two from the 'recommended reading' lists for SotW. The library here has several of the books that our library at home did not carry. And the older edition of the SotW activity guide for year one that Chanda has lists lots of different books than the one I have, so we're adding some of those to our reading, too. Going to have to borrow that book one evening to write down all the recommended reading titles to take home and compare with our book ...
