Earlier this week I pulled out Charlotte's Web and Stuart Little and asked the kids to pick one for our next bedtime story read. Duncan chose Stuart Little. Sayer agreed. We've been reading 3 chapters a night for three nights and are now halfway through. Sayer wasn't terribly interested the first night, but the second night we read the parts about getting stuck in the window shade, and then about going to the pond where toy boats are sailed and Stuart getting permission to go aboard one to sail it. Tonight she was eager to continue so we could find out what happened on the boats and who won the boat race. :)
Today at the library we poked in to the workroom of the Friends (where we go every week to sort and pack up boxes of books) and one of the other women who volunteers handed me an annotated copy of Charlotte's Web. It's lovely. I'm not sure if we'll go right from one E. B. White story to another, but we'll be back to Charlotte's Web to use this book. :)
