Wow, that was a quick read! It took us maybe a little over an hour over two nights of reading before bed. Sayer was enthralled. She's familiar with King Midas and the Golden Touch, so she had a good idea of what was going to happen to the young protagonist in the story. And at the end of it we discussed how he should have learned several lessons from his experience. Moral lessons on greed and selfishness, and a lesson on good nutrition. Children do not live on chocolate alone ...
Not sure what we're going to read next. Maybe something by E.B. White as I have those handy ...

We just finished reading this also! Took us a week though, my boys won't sit for an hour listening to a book with no pictures lol. So we break it up in 20 minutes sessions, then picture books. Plus Mic is gone most weekends and he's be irate if I finished a book when he was gone lol!!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, they loved it and are still talking about it. Great book filled with lots of great morals, I agree :)
We are reading The Dragon Of Lonely Island by Rebucca Rupp now. Pretty good so far, but we are only a few chapters into the story.
