Verbal quirks

When Sayer or Duncan wants to get your attention to say something they sometimes remember to say 'excuse me' but more often just repeat your name until you want to change it to something unpronouncable. However they do it, though, once they have your attention, there is, invariably, a pause followed by either 'well' (Sayer says this one) or 'you know' (Duncan).

It doesn't matter what they want to tell you, they get your attention, pause, and then start their conversation with their particular phrase. Every time. Mark and I hide our smiles about it as we listen to this about a dozen times a night at the dinner table.
