Swim class

Today was the end of a session at Happy Fish swim school. Their sessions are WAY short. (And WAY expensive ...)

They work on a color system for their various class levels. The parent/child class is pink. Then the independent classes start at light green, then light blue, then yellow, then green, then 8 or 9 more. Duncan graduated out of the parent/child classes last session and has been in the light green class this session. Sayer was in the yellow level last session and again this session.

At the end of each session they give the kids a certificate that shows the skills they've mastered and which ones they still need to work on to achieve the next level. Sayer hasn't quite manage to graduate out of yellow yet. If she can manage to float on her front and on her back without support or assistance she'll get the yellow ribbon at the end of the next session and move on to green. Still, while she hasn't made enough progress to move up a level, her teacher was pointing out lots of small improvements she has made through the course of the session. She'll get there!

Duncan made enough progress in light green to graduate to light blue, so next week when the next session starts he'll be in that level. If he learns to put his head under water by himself, and can bob up and down 3 times in a row, and understands to take a 'bite of air' above the water and blow out the bubbles (from his nose, preferably), he'll get promoted to yellow.

He and Sayer might end up in the same level at some point ... I hope that's a good thing!
